Do you see them? Gleaming eyes peering from under a house, a rustling in the bushes, a barely audible "mew" from inside a dumpster? These are the homeless cats of San Diego. They are everywhere. And there are at least a million of them that need your help.

Cat AdopTion Service ("CATS") has launched an initiative called Homes for Paws aimed at dramatically increasing the number of cats and kittens we save. Currently, humane societies and shelters in the U.S. are killing millions of homeless cats each year. The alternative to this tragic but humane end is a violent or slow and painful death on the streets due to starvation, disease, automobiles or predation. We at CATS make possible a third, much happier ending -- we help loving cats find loving homes, while working tirelessly to stop the breeding of those that remain.

Every volunteer and supporter of CATS, in conjunction with other local organizations dedicated to ending the suffering of homeless pets, strives to making a difference for the homeless cats of San Diego. A staggering statistic: one pair of breeding cats can exponentially produce 420,000 offspring over a seven-year period. This is why CATS never adopts out any animal without ensuring that it has been or soon will be spayed or neutered. We also make it a priority to trap/spay/release feral mothers of kittens who are brought to us, and to ensure that all cats, dogs and rabbits left behind in a household from which we have accepted cats have also been spayed/neutered..

Through these efforts -- and only with the help of animal lovers like yourself, we are working toward the day when no animal has to endure the suffering of a life on the street or an untimely death due to human cruelty or abandonment. You can help create a world where every creature is honored and cared for. Spread the word about pet rescue, spay and neuter your pets (and your neighbors' pets), and contribute to our Homes for Paws initiative so that we can together work toward the goal of a happy, safe, and totally nonproductive life for every cat.

An important part of the Homes for Paws initiative is achieving CATS' enrollment on the fundraising website WWW.GLOBALGIVING.ORG . Once that happens, CATS will be able to use the power of the globalgiving international platform to solicit resources necessary to continue and expand its work. To satisfy the threshold requirement for acceptance into globalgiving, however, CATS needs to raise at least $4000 from 50 separate donors through the globalgiving.org website during the month of April.

Helping is easy. Simply: follow instructions on how to make a donation, after clicking this link: Click here: www.globalgiving.org

Whatever amount you are able to donate will help us save more kitties, and bring us closer to our globalgiving goal! And remember, the fundraising challenge starts April 1 and closes April 30 !

Want to help in another way? We are always looking for more volunteers! Find out about volunteer opportunities and see the kitties currently in our care on our website, www.sdcats.org.

Thank you for your time reading this, and if you are able please take 5 more minutes to go to globalgiving and help us meet our challenge; and also pass along this plea to others who might help. By doing so, you become an integral part of our efforts to create a world where companion animals are loved and cared for, and are not left to suffer the hardships of a life on the streets.

As always, on behalf of the homeless cats of San Diego, we thank you so much for your support. If you know any locals with capacity to volunteer or room for more cats in their life, please put them in touch with us."
